Steven Mahr

Steven Mahr was appointed as Acting CFO of the City of Chicago in February 2026. The Office of the CFO has a range of responsibilities, including management of the City’s bonding programs. Prior to his appointment as Acting CFO, Steven served as an Assistant Commissioner in the Department of Finance, overseeing day-to-day operational aspects of financial policy and debt issuance, including coordination with credit rating agencies, financial advisors, and investment banks. Previously, he spent 8 years working in public finance investment banking. Steven is a graduate of Ohio State University.
